Rey de Aragón. Hijo de Pedro IV el Ceremonioso. Conocido como Martín I el Humano y como Martín el Viejo. Casado con María de Luna y padres de Martín I, rey de Sicilia. Su padre el Rey Pedro IV le concedió el título nobiliario de conde de Jérica.
Durante su reinado aconteció el Cisma de Occidente
Enterrado en el monasterio de santa María del Poblet.
Martín I fue llamado "el Humano" por su gran pasión por las Humanidades y los libros. La biblioteca de Martín I es la primera que podemos llamar renacentista.
